Flexitank Design

Flexitanks is a flexible container designed for the transportation of liquid food cargoes and non-hazardous chemical cargoes.

Capacity of this polymeric elastic container is 10-28 thousand liters.

The outer shell is made of laminated woven water-resistant polypropylene.

The inner shell is made of 3-layer welded polyethylene with d in 3 layers with a blocking layer.

Special fittings are provided for draining and filling the flexible container used for storing food products and chemical non-hazardous products.

Its inlet valve can be located at the top or bottom of a flexitank.

To normalize pressure when transporting gas-emitting liquids an air valve is provided.

Flexitanks are supplemented with bulkheads with special holders that limit movement of the cargoes if container sways.

Advanced technical solutions allow for maintaining the optimal temperature of transported products.

When folded, the container takes up only ¼ cubic meters.

Flexitank fits a standard 20-foot container and can be delivered by road, rail and sea transport.

Flexitanks are a worthy alternative to ISO tanks, tank cars, barrel, and other containers for cargo transportation and cargo storage.

Use Cases

Flexitanks are a preferred way to transport the following types of cargo:

• Containerized food products: Juice concentrate, syrup, milk, glucose, wine, wine materials, tomato paste, sauces, sorbitol, mineral water, food colorants, egg white, etc.;
• Oils and fat-and-oil liquids. Cargo transportation of vegetable oil, palm oil, fish oil, animal fat is carried out by special flexible tanks designed for oil and fat-and-oil products. Transportation of sunflower oil in flexitanks is in great demand. China is the key customer;
• Non-hazardous chemical liquids and petroleum products, i.e. mineral oils, lubricants, soluble paints, glycerin, detergents, synthetic latex, paraffins, emulsions, and other non-intrusive chemicals;
• Liquid bitumen. Heat resistant flexitanks are used for transportation. They are designed for the transportation of goods at 60°C – 90°C.

Advantages of Transportation in Flexitanks

Preparation for Transportation by Flexitanks

First, flexitank is prepared for transportation in a special depot or warehouse.

The container is inspected and cleaned, if necessary.

Its walls are covered with cardboard, fiberboard or polyethylene foam, at least 3 mm thick.

This reduces friction of the polymer insert against the metal surface.

Flexitank unfolds inside the container ensuring that the ball valve is located near the door.

Bulkheads are then installed and the tank gets filled.

When 2/3 of the volume is filled the air valve is opened to reduce pressure.

When the container is 90% full the pipe is closed.

The container is sealed once loading is completed.

Containers equipped with flexitank can be delivery for loading straight to the production facility.

Unloading is performed by gravity, provided the unloading sleeve is placed below the bottom of the container.

In all other cases liquid is drained using the relevant pumping unit.
